![]() : The open kitchen design, where each chef performs in his own glass box on the dining floor, means the restaurant is filled with the roar of woks, the crackle of ducks in ovens and the smells of all that frying and roasting. Made in China has a funky modern design but can feel a little hectic with all the kitchen action and the snuggly situated tables. (Check out the private room wine cellar.) The cuisine---modernized versions of traditional Beijing and North Chinese cooking---however, is topnotch. In addition to the Beijing duck, we recommend the takes on beggar’s chicken and Mandarin fish. Dumplings are fragrant and firm; try the prawn, pork and mushroom pockets. Be sure to make a reservation (for a table and a duck if required) several days in advance. |
