Fitz's American Grill & Bottling Works Restaurant Review:
At the home of St. Louis’ favorite root beer, what better to order than a classic local dish? Pork steaks, a shoulder cut of meat rarely seen outside the Midwest, are dry rubbed and house smoked, then grilled and served with Fitz’s own barbecue sauce. Add a side of baked beans featuring that beloved root beer, and you’ll understand this eatery’s attraction for business lunchers, parents and tourists alike. The youngsters (and the young at heart) come to watch one bottle per second roll off the merrily clanking vintage bottling line, snarf down a burger or pizza and then indulge in dessert, which must include the house-made root beer, cream soda or orange soda, preferably in a float. The always-interesting Delmar Loop is a good location for this throwback eatery. Evenings and weekends a college-age crowd stops by for happy hour specials on microbrews (real beer, that is) and the game area in the upstairs loft.
