Kumi Japanese Restaurant + Bar Restaurant Review:

Kumi Japanese Restaurant + Bar’s décor highlights natural woods, hammered steel, red lacquer and cobalt-blue tiles in a scalloped pattern inspired by Japanese homes. Various dining environments include a bar and lounge, a sushi bar, private rooms and an elevated rotunda with giant interpretations of cherry blossom trees. Begin with the spicy yellowtail serrano with yuzu soy sauce or whitefish carpaccio with crunchy dried shallots. Carnivores will be more than satisfied with the bone-in pork chop with apple-miso glaze or toban yaki filet mignon with mixed mushrooms served in a sizzling ceramic pan, both of which are pre-sliced, allowing one to eat with chopsticks. A wide array of sushi, sashimi and rolls includes the signature roll of crispy pork belly with Brussels sprouts coleslaw. We also like the "007 Octopussy" --- crab salad, slow-braised octopus and crispy potatoes. Four types of Japanese saké are available, from the junmai daiginjo Ken Sword from Fukushima, to junmai ginjo Wandering Poet from Shimane. Finish with the unique Kumi bar dessert composed of milk chocolate, graham cracker flakes, candied macadamia nuts and salted honey ice cream topped with green tea-infused salt.
