Longhi's is a sort of amusement park ride of a restaurant, a place where the scene is at least as interesting as the food. Unbelievably popular and successful, Longhi's has been a Lahaina landmark for 30 years now. It gets a lively crowd that ranges from teenagers and partying locals to celebrities and gawking tourists, and even has live music on Fridays. The food has been consistent for years, expanding the clientele of regulars exponentially. The menu is extensive but not written down; it is presented verbally (which can drive you crazy). Watch your wallet---everything here is à la carte. The pizza bread gets you off to a great start. Favorite entrées include the macadamia-nut-crusted ahi Torino and lobster Longhi served on a platter of pasta with clams, mussels and calamari in a red sauce. Another suggestion is to split dishes, as each portion is large enough for two. Keep it simple, stick with the fresh fish, ask for the pastas al dente and save room for dessert. There's music and dancing Friday nights, with dinner patrons admitted free.
