Rose and Crown Pub Restaurant Review:
You know it’s a real pub, since this friendly, come-as-you-are place welcomes with more than 50 local and imported rotating beers, and all the pub grub includes suggested beer pairings on the menu. It even looks like a pub, since the historic former cottage setting in downtown Phoenix’s Heritage Square spans room-after-tiny-room of hardwood floors and wood tables, with a big, boisterous bar at its heart. Top eats include a Ploughman's Plate complete with house-made Scotch egg, mulligatawny, and fish ‘n’ chips battered in Newcastle Brown Ale. If you’re really hungry, dig into the hefty shepherd’s pie packed with slow-cooked pot roast, vegetables and rich, dark gravy topped in mashed potatoes and cheddar, all baked until golden brown. Then, you can work it off with a game like beanbag toss, playing until the bar closes at 2 a.m. every night.
