THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Sassi Restaurant Review:
Don't bother spending a fortune on airline tickets to Italy. Just gas up the car and drive to Sassi. Located on six acres of desert at the base of Pinnacle Peak, this replication of an Italian villa has everything going for it: a spectacular mountain setting, friendly but professional service, and its Italian cuisine. In a fortunate twist, it's light years from the tomato sauce-heavy food most people associate with Southern Italy. Instead, we find aged prosciutto, sardines, marinated octopus, house-made head cheese, stuffed zucchini squash blossoms, handmade pastas, rustic breads and Italian entrées of steak, poultry and fish that incorporate fresh, seasonal ingredients. Every dish is simple but elegant; you can’t go wrong, so just close your eyes and point at the menu.
