Yama's Fish Market Restaurant Review:

Yama’s Fish Market is hidden on a back street of a Honolulu neighborhood that’s so old there aren’t any sidewalks. It has been run by the Yamamoto family for decades, serving up one of the biggest selections of Hawaiian food on the island. Poke is made daily in the onsite kitchen and is available by the pound (at least a quarter pound). The favorite variety is the ahi masago poke: masago (capelin roe) alone is a departure from the norm of "standard" poke ingredients, and furikake (shredded nori) is added to give it a unique flavor. Also on the menu are plate lunches, kalua pig, poi, mochiko chicken and sushi. For dessert, don't miss the layered haupia pies; the sweet potato and the brownie combos are popular, but you really can't go wrong. There are about eight parking stalls out front; if you find the lot is full, just wait a few minutes as the turnover is constant.
