If you’re hankering after a bit of down-home fare, this simply furnished restaurant may just hit the spot. Service is a bit erratic, but it’s always friendly. The menu leans toward the deep South for its inspiration and harks back to the good old days, when people didn’t worry about good and bad cholesterol. Best bets? The fried catfish (crisp cornmeal crust on the outside, sweet and juicy meat on the inside), baked chicken, and pork chop platters, all served with your choice of sides. Other standouts: the spicy ribs and ham hocks and greens. Add a peach cobbler or the sweet potato and spiced apple pie for a treat.
