Michael Kornick is the "MK" behind this suburban location, his other venue being in the city (River North). Kornick is a very talented chef and pretty much steers this culinary ship through mostly untroubled waters. Prices can be up there for certain dishes, but the quality and craftsmanship are quite good overall. Appetizer prices are the real killers here, with fried calamari weighing in at $12 (pretty hefty). Pan roasted sea scallops with subtle mustard sauce were plump and flavorful and a simple pan-seared whitefish with capers and butter sauce took this fish to a higher level. The dining room is boring and bland. Service is excellent and informed. Wines by the glass are relatively inexpensive considering the pour is six ounces. Dont miss the "amazing apples" dessert: a puffy apple crostata with candied pecans, caramel and ice cream thats incredibly good.
