Molina’s Cantina Restaurant Review:

The Westheimer Road location of this Houston restaurant has a festive, colorful Mexican flair that attracts regulars---some come almost daily---for food like the legendary Jose’s dip, a creamy chili con queso with a dose of spicy taco meat. Every entrée comes with chips, three kinds of salsa and escabeche, a dish of lightly pickled carrots, onions and jalapeños, plus a sugary praline with the check. The menu is just good old-fashioned Tex-Mex, with some recipes just as they were in 1941 when Raul Molina opened the first cantina. Expect big nacho plates; cheesy enchiladas; crispy tacos stuffed with fresh lettuce, tomato and grated cheddar; seafood and combo platters with refried beans and fluffy Spanish rice. The daily lunch specials are a tasty bargain.
