THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Monte Carlo Restaurant Review:
Ask some of the long-time staff members to tell you stories about when Frank Sinatra used to dine at an earlier incarnation of this quintessential gourmet hotel dining room. The place is old-world fancy: lace tablecloths, gorgeous Fabergé-egg china tableware, crystal chandeliers. The service is attentive and then some (Would you like cubed or crushed ice in your San Pellegrino? Coarse or fine-ground pepper on your Caesar salad?) They prepare nearly everything at tableside, and they do a good job of it, whether its Steak Diane, or jumbo shrimp flambéed with lemon vodka or a perfect chocolate soufflé with Grand Marnier sauce. If you wince at the prices---$40 for a veal chop---keep in mind that most of the guests here arent paying; theyre high rollers being comped by the hotel.
