This South Street institution (nineteen years) bills itself as an American Bistro, but the menu has a definite Mediterranean touch. Stop first at the welcoming dark wood bar, but note that the menu also suggests a choice of wines with every dish. Once settled on the dark green banquette in the dining room, and charmed by the bee lights reflecting on the mirrored walls, consider an antipasto that includes hummus, grilled vegetables and feta cheese, or a shrimp quesadilla with mango salsa. The signature confetti chicken says it all: sautéed chicken tenders with ginger, soy, coconut, curry and broccoli, served over linguini with fried noodles on top. Vegetarian specials abound, and appeal to the younger crowd. Desserts include a chocolate raspberry cake, or a cheesecake, bread pudding, or pie du jour.
