![]() : As the name might suggest, Moonshine is all about down-home fare and good drinks. However, much to the owner's credit, the restaurant still places a premium on food quality, service and ambience, and also offers one of downtown's most popular Sunday brunches. The beautiful grounds feature a historical carriage-house-turned-bar and a snug patio, perfect for cool days and nights. The indoor dining room is also cozy, with limestone walls, dim lights and polished wood floors. On the appetizer front, we recommend the warm kale and bacon dip or the roasted garlic bulbs served with toast points, goat cheese and marinated red peppers. Filling entrées include cornbread-stuffed rainbow trout, jalapeño hanger steak and a chicken and waffles plate. On nearly every visit, it seems that someone falls for the spiced-up version of the ultimate comfort food: green chile macaroni and cheese. For something lighter, try the spinach salad with goat cheese, dried cranberries, orange slices and spiced almonds. If you're merely parched, a Moonlit cosmo martini or hard lemonade will fix you right up. |
