THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Napa Valley Grille Restaurant Review:
For a chain restaurant located in a major metropolitan mall, the Napa Valley Grille is certainly a step above the typically offered fare, but this interpretation of the Yountville original is a far cry from the wine country. True, the wine list is excellent, with over 250 selections from California, but do most shoppers really want a three- (or more) course meal after a day spent in department stores? And does anyone else want to schlep into the mall for a night of fine dining? Get past the front door and Christopher Krajacic and his able staff will reward you with appetizers such as roasted portobello mushroom-Fontina cheese pizzetta, Dungeness crab cakes with lemon rémoulade, and pan-roasted mussels with applewood-smoked bacon and Chardonnay broth. Main courses such as wood-roasted rack of pork with potato-parsnip gratin and apple chutney, rosemary roasted chicken with caramelized shallot mashed potatoes and rich gravy, and grilled lamb loin with rösti-style potatoes and broccolini are apt choices for the decadent, while Atlantic salmon and rare ahi tuna (from the Simply Grilled à la carte menu) suit the more health-conscious. Our favorites? Bistro fries and wild mushroom macaroni and cheese from the side dish menu.
