Fans of the Nooney Burger will be shocked to hear that it is not the only reason to grab a bite at Neptune Market. Oh sure, the Nooney earned its place on the menu dating back to the 1940s. A half-pound Angus beef burger is grilled, then with a melting slice of cheese on the patty, it’s placed on the bottom half of the bun that’s been slathered with mayo and a healthy layer of hot cherry peppers. Add tomatoes, sliced raw onion and slivers of iceberg lettuce and the top half of the bun. But this little market and deli with a food counter also offers chipped beef on toast, omelets, hoagies, burgers, steaks and Mickey Mouse pancakes for the kids. Locals and the summer people are frequent patrons, stopping by for a quick nibble before they hit the surf or to pick up beach grub.
