Who says Napa doesn't have a nightlife? One of the hottest gathering spots in the Valley, NV packs 'em in come quitting time with its drink menu and chic, ultra-loungey surroundings. Perhaps to compensate for its downtown attitude bar-side, the dining menu strives to be taken seriously, with items like a beet and goat cheese napoleon on the starter menu, lobster bisque and hearty wine country dishes including duck and pork belly. Service is also given serious attention with doting waiters trained to attend, but not smother. Lunches are a more casual affair, attracting window-shoppers and business-mavens with favorites like Caesar salad and calamari. And while no one is confusing NV (which lets diners decide whether it stands for non-vintage, Napa Valley or something altogether different) with The French Laundry, it's perfect for a night out on the town or first stop on your way to the wineries.
