Oggi Caffe Restaurant Review

: Having started more than a decade ago as a homemade pasta supplier for other establishments, Oggi has come a long way---but only figuratively speaking. Now in a larger, more elegant location only half a block away from its original site, the restaurant, owned by Eloy Roy and Alex Portela, is still turning out some of the most delicate stuffed pastas and supple seafood dishes in the city. The crab meat ravioli in creamy lobster sauce is reason enough to go. But a larger kitchen has meant an expanded menu, so more complicated Italian dishes such as rack of lamb with a wine-fig reduction are appearing. There's also a private room for parties and a good regional wine list to round things off. The slightly more elegant digs have had an inverse effect on the management---though always welcoming, this version of Oggi seems even more relaxed and hospitable.
