THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Orange & Scarlett's Restaurant Review:
After bringing authentic Mexican food to Atlanta at Zócalo and Oh... María!, Lucero Obregón developed a new concept showcasing pristine fresh fast food. Little about it is Mexican, except for the fine organic coffee from Chiapas and a few other touches. High points are the homemade ice creams (the coffee version is intensely flavored) and the soups. Some dish names refer to local circumstances, such as the Franklin Turnover, named to honor the city's first female mayor. Piedmont Perk is an homage to the noble pistachio, with toasted pistachios mixed in. Breakfast is sundry bagels with inventive spreads---including a salsa-flavored number---or scrambled eggs. Crêpes are of various and ever-changing sorts. Also located at 1071 Piedmont Ave. NE, (12th St.), Midtown, 404-685-9555.
