Osteria Ai Promessi Sposi Restaurant Review:

Arm yourself with a good map to look for this small osteria in the Cannaregio part of Venice, because it’s located in a narrow alley. It’s on Calle de L'Oca, a stone's throw from the Rialto, on a street so narrow you could mistake another restaurant for this one. Be sure to make a reservation as there are only a few tables and the place is a favorite of fish-lovers. Wood ceilings, paneled walls and light wood tables and chairs help create a very warm and familiar atmosphere. The best seating is in the second room situated mid-house, although there’s also a terrace for outdoor dining. Background music is quite pleasant. The menu is simple, handwritten and changes according to the season and catch of the day. Friendly staff is always ready and quick to answer any questions. In all, you may spend about €100 for two people, and that includes the house wine. For Venice, this is rather reasonable for a meal, but given the quality of the dishes and the professional service, even when the restaurant is full, it surpasses expectations.
