THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Perlot Restaurant Review:
Located in the venerable Hotel Majestic in San Francisco, Perlot is a beautiful and romantic restaurant. If we knew someone who wanted to pop the question, this quiet, elegant venue would be the place we would recommend. The style is Edwardian with high ceilings and columns. Jazz piano or classical guitar Wednesday through Saturday nights enlivens the dining room. Starters include a Belgian endive tarte Tatin, a wrinkle on the classic apple tarte Tatin. This version is savory, and is a great foil for the goat cheese filling. A red pepper coulis and basil emulsion surround the toothsome appetizer. Another plate includes a trio of smoked salmon, featuring one version prepared pastrami-style and enlivened with black pepper. Monkfish roasted on the bone, pancetta that enrobes a rabbit loin and roast squab paired with a red vermouth reduction are among the entrées. For dessert, dont miss the almond mousse in a crispy phyllo nest, the mocha walnut torte or the Key lime parfait. The wine list is solid.
