True to the Hotel Indigo’s sustainable and green spirit, Phi Bar & Bistro features local, organic and seasonal ingredients, mostly from Temecula’s Crows Pass Farm, on its playful and compelling menu. The ambience has an inviting modern feel with bursts of blues and orange, a horseshoe-shaped cocktail bar and communal tables for convivial interaction with guests. Start with a sunset cliff margarita jazzed up with prickly pear or a green tea lemonade (vodka infused with green tea, orange liqueur and honey) and share an artisan cheese trio (from local shop Venissimo) with orange blossom honey and almond fig relish. Quarter bites are meant to be shared, like mini roasted chicken sandwiches draped in barbecue sauce with piquant chipotle slaw; flatbreads boast crisp, thin crust and succeed with chicken pesto, ricotta, artichokes and mozzarella mingling on top. Heartier appetites should gravitate to the grilled pork chops with sweet potato fries or filet mignon with a balsamic white truffle compound butter. Breakfast means plump burritos cradling chorizo, eggs, white cheddar and potatoes, or brioche french toast.
