Firenze Trattoria Restaurant Review:

This stylish but informal restaurant sits on the edge of Encinitas and Rancho Santa Fe, and offers a pleasant Italian menu that delivers quality food for the price. The mood is cozy yet upbeat, the service is attentive and willing, and the cooking largely pleases. This is especially true in the case of pastas, which are generously portioned, but tend to have a light touch. Our recommendations: rigatoni baked with crumbles of spicy sausage and slices of mellow mozzarella; the day’s fresh fish; and the piquant, caper-rich veal alla pizzaiola. Another fine choice --- risotto fantastico --- marries sliced filet mignon and shrimp sautéed in aged balsamic sauce with onions and prosciutto. Regulars return for the off-menu but always available osso buco, and Monday means half-price wine. Hearty lasagna with veal, beef and chicken is a well-received signature. Live jazz on the patio happens in summer and in fall on Sundays.
