THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Powerhouse Restaurant Review:
THIS ESTABLISHMENT IS TEMPORARILY CLOSED Located in an architecturally appealing Beaux-Arts building---once home to, as the name implies, a powerhouse for the Chicago & North Western Railway terminal---is a business meal-appropriate neighborhood spot. It is sleek thanks to the opening team of Jimmy Alexander (Pegasus, Artopolis) and the departed Mitchell Schmieding (Charlie Trotter's). Jeffrey Mauro (formerly of Charlie Trotter’s, Bradley Ogden and North Pond) steps up to the plate as chef with the departure of John Peters. Look for dishes like prime rib and Dover sole as absolutes on the menu. Mauro's menu should lighten things up and the flavor of fresh seasonal ingredients will shine without heavy sauces or butter-laden preparations.
