Publican Quality Meats Restaurant Review:
Paul Kahan's entry into the deli and butcher biz is a bustling and tasty one at that, its cases brimming with local farm products and artisanal sandwiches stuffed with the wares. Peer beyond all the house-cured charcuterie and prime-aged beef. The pink pork. The marinated poultry. That is, if you can, since the grab-and-go bread (from Publican Quality Bread) and meat of the same caliber supply the Blackbird family of restaurants. The roster of sandwiches changes often, but you might find "Return of the Gyro," made with braised pork belly, raita, escalivada, pea shoots and Calabrian chili vinaigrette on griddled flatbread. Rounding things off are a handful of salads, charcuterie and cheese plates, plus cookies and ice cream. It's the kind of place everyone wants in their 'hood. And while it's not conducive to long stays, there is a small, smart selection of bottled beer and wine that'll lead you to feel otherwise.
