Rasa Samudra Restaurant Review:

Part of a group of South Indian restaurants owned by Das Sreedharan, Rasa Samudra is a destination for fish lovers. Although Charlotte Street is full of restaurants, this stands out in more ways than one. Starting from the shocking pink exterior (a group trademark colour) to the dominating cool sea blues and greens downstairs in several small rooms, to the dramatic reappearance of hot pink upstairs, this restaurant provides living colour for the palate as well. Everything that swims or scuttles across the sea is offered---Samudra means sea in Tamil. So you can start with the Keralan bouillabaisse called rasam---a medley of prawn, crab, mussel and squid swimming in sour rice water---and move on to lemon sole with tamarind, pomfret with Indian shallots, crab in coconut milk, or whole lobster with lemon rice and beetroot curry. Service is charming and wines are well-selected.
