Red Bowls Restaurant Review:

Red Bowls serves more than forty customizable, Korean-inspired dishes, a departure from the generic, fast food fare dotting downtown eateries. Most start with a base of brown or white rice topped with lightly steamed vegetables and some combination of cooked meat or raw fish (sushi style). The surprisingly fresh fish is a favorite, a pleasant contrast with the crunch of vegetables and the soft rice. Fire-engine-red Korean hot sauce available on many of the bowls brings brightness and extra flavor. If you’re unsure what to order, #35, the hae dop bap, offers a few different kinds of fish, plus a serving of hot sauce heat. The line here is often long, but this place, like any good lunch spot, knows how to crank through orders, and it moves quickly. The only drinks are water and sodas in the coolers near the counter.
