THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Red Ginger Restaurant Review:

Welcome back the Caribbean food duo, Sharon and Jimmie Banks, who once treated us to their version of island food at their earlier Hibiscus Café and Fish, Wings & Tings restaurants. With this very trendy, very in-place, catering to loads of thirty- and forty-somethings, Banks and crowd cook up a pleasing assortment of Caribbean-flavored and inspired dishes that bring the beaches to you. But despite all the hype here, keep in mind that some dishes are more inspired and on target than others: Take the Jimi B’s Jerk Ribs, all the flavor of great short ribs, minus the annoying bones. Cooked with a spicy pineapple sauce, these may be the best dish on the menu. We’d maybe head to the Red Ginger lamb chops or the Pimento Peppa Tenderloin next time, but would definitely pass on the crispy red snapper, which was all bones and little flavor. As for desserts, we indulged in the ginger crème brûlée, and that deserves some applause. It’s crowded and noisy, and the bar in back gets packed to overflowing, but everyone hangs loose here, and has an island-style party.
