THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Rice Jones Restaurant Review:

A melding of Vietnamese (Rice) and American (Jones) cuisines, Rice Jones might be considered Vietnamese Light by some, but in our estimation this tiny bistro deserves kudos for presenting the flavors of the Far East in a manner the average American can understand. For those that are not inclined to experiment with authentic cuisines, owner-chef Anh Long has created a place that combines her love of the exotic (lemon grass, ginger, sugarcane and tofu) with the familiar (rice, green beans, noodles, shrimp). The décor is pleasant, the interior clean; and the prices are beyond reasonable. We like to pop in for lunch and order pho ga (smartly defined as Vietnamese chicken soup), crispy rolls (stuffed with seasoned turkey) and grilled chicken (subtly infused with lemon grass). The farmers' market soup, made with locally procured veggies, is dependably good (and more Californian than Vietnamese) and the rice dishes are laden with fresh produce. The menu is simple and straightforward; entrées can be ordered with a choice of chicken, shrimp, beef or tofu. The most adventurous Long gets is with bún (pronounced boon), the rice noodle, lettuce, cucumber, bean sprout dish that comes with the tangy dipping sauce nuoc cham. We like it with grilled sweet sausage atop. The very California turkey burger seems a bit out of place here, but it tastes good nonetheless.
