Royal River Grill House Restaurant Review:

Royal River Grill House accommodates guests on a seasonally open harborside deck as well as amid a redecorated interior with an upscale boathouse feel. The menu changes based on what’s fresh and locally available, but you can count on starting with house selections such as sautéed mussels cooked in a sweet wine and garlic butter, with homemade bread. Try the truffle cheese fries or the salad with spinach, arugula, goat cheese, and roasted red and pickled golden beets. Entrées range from wood-fired steaks to pan-seared panko-encrusted haddock, roasted garlic mashed potatoes, lemon-dill aïoli and fried leeks. Cast-iron Long Island duck breast comes with harvest hash and Brussels sprouts in a brown butter and cranberry reduction sauce. For dessert, share brick-oven apple crisp or tart Key lime cheesecake. There’s a long list of signature cocktails, the wine list is acceptable, and beer includes Allagash White or Shipyard. Lunch and brunch options are equally fresh.
