Watch Sammy DeMarco, star of Travel Channel’s cooking competition show Chow Masters, and you’ll see him search for something different, with a brand new twist, elevated and with international inspiration. Dine at his quiet and comfortable restaurant and you’ll taste the talk. There are a.m. delights such as Extra Crummy (really, keep the napkin on your lap) Coffee Cake; egg Benedict variations in profusion; healthful egg white omelets with turkey bacon; or Chicken ‘N Waffles with buttermilk fried chicken drizzled with maple syrup. At lunchtime, order creative “SAMwiches” such as Little Italy grilled chicken on toasted Italian bread with mozzarella, pesto, oven-dried tomatoes and prosciutto, or the XXXL BLTA with bacon and avocado, layered on toasted country bread slathered with chipotle mayo and crowned with lettuce and tomato. Come dinner, choose small plates like Philly cheesesteak dumplings doused with sriracha ketchup or a full entrée of seafood potpie loaded with plump bits of lobster, shrimp, scallop and an array of fresh vegetables swimming in creamy sauce. The draft beer options are notable and inventive cocktails (i.e. the “SAMosa,” a concoction of sparkling wine and a seasonal purée) are worth a try. The wine list suits the fare.
