Santos Guisados Tacos & Beer, Las Vegas, NV

Santos Guisados Tacos & Beer Restaurant Review

About the restaurant & décor: Santos Guisados Tacos & Beer in downtown Las Vegas specializes in authentic Mexican cuisine and tacos representing the country's regions. Décor includes an homage to the Santos in the eatery's name, with dozens of candles with images and names of various saints, as well as a candle-like hanging chandelier.

Likes: The guisados tacos are $3.50 each or can be mixed and matched at three for $10. An even better deal is on Tuesdays, when all guisados tacos are $2 each.
Dislikes: The space is very small, so to avoid a wait, show up during off-peak times.

Food & Drinks: The restaurant is Las Vegas' first shop for guisados, which are slow-roasted meats cooked in their juices; here they’re served in a taco format. Options include birria (slow-cooked brisket), chicken tinga (slow cooked in chipotle), cochinita pibil (marinated pork slow cooked in banana leaves) and the vegan hongos (mushrooms slow cooked with herbs, guacamole, cilantro and onions). Also offered are tamales, quesadillas, nachos and concha (pastry filled with ice cream similar to an ice cream sandwich). Complementing the fare is a cocktail menu featuring sangría and mezcal. Happy hour Monday through Friday from 3 p.m.-6 p.m. offers $2 cans of Modelo, 50 percent off Modelo Negra and Pacifico pints, and $6 margaritas.
