Where else but at Sauce are you going to find a huge glass wall that rolls up like a garage door to let in the breeze while you enjoy contemporary cuisine? Or a long narrow bar that winds through the dining room with a Japanese paper wall for a hint of exotic mystery? The saucy décor features the work of local artists displayed on brick walls and a wood-burning fireplace for winter comfort. Snuggled above the street, Sauce overlooks the bustling action, making it a great spot for people-watchers. In the kitchen, chef Joseph Volpe is a whiz with eclectic dishes---each deftly served with a signature sauce (hence the name). For starters, try seared crab cakes with fresh herbs and beurre blanc. Proceed to the seafood---shipped fresh daily---including pistachio-crusted yellowfin tuna. Or choose tenderloin and scallops with broccoli, asparagus, wild mushrooms, grape tomatoes and lavender flower in sherry cream sauce for the best of both worlds. Our favorite dessert is the decadent flourless chocolate cake with house-made ice cream and caramel sauce.
