THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Sid-Mar's Restaurant Review:
HURRICANE KATRINA: this establishment is currently closed. For a New Orleans Travel Update as well as resources, information and help click here. This is a local favorite for enjoying a summer sunset with a platter of warm and spicy boiled blue crabs or crawfish while sitting on the restaurant's homey porch or the outdoor deck overlooking Lake Pontchartrain. The night's fish---sautéed, charbroiled or fried---may be amberjack one night, trout the next, but all are consistently fresh. Soft-shelled crabs, shrimp, oysters, catfish and trout are fried to a turn and served with french fries and a functional lettuce-and-tomato salad. Not in the mood for seafood? Try the beef daube with spaghetti. We tend to agree with those who say the hush puppies are the best in town and that the hamburgers alone are worth the trip to the lakefront.
