THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Skipjack's Restaurant Review:
Begin with a large selection of appetizers highlighted by blackened tuna sashimi and gingered fried squid plus an extensive raw bar. From there, it’s a roster of local, farm-raised and flown-in fish: you can come across local scrod and halibut along with Arctic char and red snapper. While we find the wine list to be heavy in over-oaked California Chardonnay, also present are many big name, hard-to-find labels like Kistler and Cakebread. This Brookline original has morphed into the fabric of the Boston dining community and plays to a well-heeled crowd of regulars. It’s comfortable and familiar and while the fare isn’t cutting edge, most dishes are handled well and the kitchen is quite consistent.
