THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Specchio Restaurant Review:
There’s no way to walk through Specchio’s spectacular entrance without a premonition that something wonderful is about to happen. It is. And you’ll know it at first bite. The Italian cooking is modern, light, highly seasonal and creative. Starters may include the crispelle, a baked Taleggio-cheese-and-wild-mushroom-filled crêpe, served with Parmigiano cream and aged balsamic vinegar. We also recommend the raviolini alle vongole---broccoli rabe-stuffed ravioli, with little neck clams, calabrese chilies and grape tomatoes. Service matches the food: sophisticated and professional. The wine list is extensive, but note that although some bottles range into the thousands of dollars there are far more modestly priced but well-chosen offerings, and many wines available by the glass.
