THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Standard Bistro Restaurant Review

: Stylish but comfortable, Standard Bistro blends white tablecloth gourmet with relaxing neighborhood charm. Service is Old South gracious, and the rooms are spacious and airy (private dining in the wine room is a plus). Lunch dishes range from Angus chuck burgers with shoestring fries to shrimp and grits to bacon-wrapped stuffed quail with butternut squash, rutabaga, parsnips and wilted spinach. Lunchtime daily specials offer value, but those coming on Thursday for the chicken and dumplings finished with crème fraîche will need to get there early to stake their claim. For dinner, we suggest the seared moulard duck breast with sweet potato hash, rapini and gremolata. Or opt for a steak or Gulf red snapper with little green beans and local satsumas. Game meats and birds are standouts here. Desserts include Southern pecan pie with vanilla ice cream and old-fashioned bread pudding with Kentucky bourbon sauce. The vanilla-mint lemonade refreshes on a hot day, but the wine list is fine.
