THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Super Smokers Bar-B-Que Restaurant Review:
St. Louis' long search for worthy barbecue ended when Super Smokers came to the edge of the metropolitan area. It's worth a trip to either the original small spot off I-44 near Six Flags or the big new place in Illinois. There's also this outpost with a limited menu in a Dierbergs market, where you can take out or eat in. They all break the 'que rule of the worse the place looks, the better the meat. This is apple-wood smoking, sweet and mellow, with a dry rub and sauce added at the table from among five choices, including a yellow Carolina-style. Ribs are fine, but to us the masterpieces are the beef brisket, moist, not sawdust-like, and tender without collapsing, and the pulled pork. The pork is what Brits would call moreish, which is to say gimme summo' dat, pliz. We think the best side is the beans, but it's up to you. Everyone has strong opinions on how barbecue should be, although we say anyone who eats macaroni salad with it...oh, never mind.
