Sweet Iron Waffles Restaurant Review:
Instead of the sweet breakfast pastry most people think of when waffles are mentioned, this cozy, family-run shop also serves savory versions. Topping the list are prosciutto, turkey and Brie with basil. Or mix up sweet and savory and order a goat cheese waffle drizzled in honey. The big difference with both incarnations starts with the Belgian-inspired batter. It's richer and thicker than most waffle batters, giving the toasty creations prepared here tons of character. Coffee drinks to pair with the waffles are made using Portland-based Stumptown beans. It can get busy during the lunch rush, but polished staff is devoted to getting orders out in a hurry.
