Tarahumata Mexican Grill & Tequila Bar Restaurant Review:

Tarahumata’s large dining room is appointed with warm lighting and furnishings designed to evoke the aesthetic traditions and culture of Mexico. It’s a great place to test your metal with respect to tequila, as well over 100 are available. Lots of small plates (antojitos) make nibbling with the tequila drinks an adventure. We sampled the guacamole and found it chunky and with nice seasoning, if a bit picante; accompanying chips were crisp and flavorful. The menu explores many regional dishes, among them pork pibil, in which the meat is cooked in banana leaves. Usually, that results in juicy meat, but in this version, it came out a bit dry although well-seasoned. Among other options are arrachera, a grilled skirt steak, and several with shrimp. For dessert, go for the crêpes filled with very good and rich cajeta, a sweetened caramelized goat milk. As for the wine list, some rather expensive bottles are available, such as Opus One. But it makes no sense with the food, either from the point of view of what it is or its price. A good rosé, however, would be spot on. Otherwise, there are beers and the aforementioned tequilas.
