THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED TGI Thai Restaurant Review:
Thai food has just made its way to U Street, breaking ground way uptown in new territory. But TGI Thai is really little more than a Thai take-out, for its few seats accommodate no more than ten people. It's a bustling place, nonetheless, and the eight different lunch specials (with rice and spring roll) are budget-priced mini meals. It's basic, no-frills fare with modest flavors and flair. Best bets here are the fried tofu with its accompanying sweet sauce, the fried fresh calamari, which are delicately crispy, and the drunken noodles, which needed a few more chilies. Don't expect downtown cooking, however. For that, you'd better head elsewhere. By the way, try one of the Thai desserts, if available.
