THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Tinks Cafe Restaurant Review:
Nestled in the Gaslight District of Clifton, Tinks Café is simple and sophisticated. Open the brass door latch, and you'll be greeted by a hip spot with warm oak floors, a painted acoustic tile ceiling, abstract art and windows galore. Named after a former owner’s pet, Tinks features an eclectic, flexible menu that varies according to the season, but some house specialties---like crab cakes and shrimp grits---always are available. If oysters are your pleasure, try them tempura fried. Or, go for the beef carpaccio with mushrooms, onion petals and Thai pesto. It's almost a meal in itself. An entrée not to be missed, however, is the seafood capellini with shrimp, scallops, capicolli, roasted tomatoes, beurre blanc and Parmesan. Another favorite is the gumbo with shrimp, chicken, tasso, stone-ground grits and stewed Creole veggies. A fine cap to a meal is the aromatic cinnamon toast crème brûlée.
