Providing a leafy oasis above Rittenhouse Square, Treetops has long been a popular neighborhood haunt. Jim Coleman's lighten cuisine has its devotees. There are far worse ways to watch one's diet than dining on handsome salads and sesame-crusted swordfish, in these quietly stylish surroundings. Coleman is much more than a diet-conscious, community-involved chef, however, and he serves many dishes for those not calorically challenged, such as the luscious brownie sundae. The decent wine list offers many California choices. There's always an attractive mix of neighborhood couples and hotel guests enjoying the view as well as the food.
