![]() : In the heart of downtown, rustic and modern meet in the décor and on the menu at Truckee Tavern & Grill. Cottonwood Restaurant & Bar’s longtime bartenders opened the Tavern, bringing dreams ten years in the making to the upstairs venue. Cocktail inspirations come from small-batch gin and whiskey recipes, remnants of Truckee's bootlegging history, and the menu from the desire to highlight Northern California ingredients. Family-style dining is encouraged for the small, seasonal, often eclectically flavored plates that change daily, such as honey-lemon shishito peppers, three-melon soup, or scallops served with a pork belly pear chutney. Carnivores won't be disappointed: the burger hits the right char notes, and the generous “Hanging Tender” is meant to be shared. For a lighter option, try the house-made linguine and ricotta paired with seasonal vegetables. Watch the train and the tourists pass from the deck seating upstairs while enjoying a town steeped in history and sipping a cocktail inspired by it. |
