THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED The Velvet Room Restaurant Review:

The former Sporting House Café, and way before that a bordello, is as sexy as ever, draped in blood-red velvet and as dimly lit as possible without being dangerous. There's an ambitious menu of sexy food, too, served into the wee hours---from deviled quail eggs to a Bleeding Heart Martini Salad to steamed mussels. Perhaps The Velvet Room's greatest draw, though, is its eclectic lineup of local musicians. There's no cover on most nights and you're bound to catch several off-duty players sitting in during their friends' sets. Don't forget the tip jar near the stage, as this combination of atmosphere, food and music doesn't converge often and should be encouraged.
