Weaver D's Restaurant Review:
Dexter Weaver has greeted his customers with his trademarked slogan "Automatic!" for more than 40 years. The band R.E.M. asked him if they could borrow his "Automatic for the People" service mark for their first album, and thus were launched both reputations onto a national platform. The simple interior of this lime-green building fills fast at lunch, so we suggest getting there early. In nice weather, walk a few paces toward the Oconee River and have your lunch at one of the picnic tables set along its banks. Choose the juicy fried chicken, although the pork chops are pretty good, too. Some of the sides are exceptional, like the squash casserole, while others are, well, frankly disappointing, such as the collard greens, which needed more seasoning. There's cobbler for dessert, but it left us underwhelmed and aching for another piece of chicken. Beverages are limited to iced tea, lemonade or water. No alcohol.
