Winebelly Restaurant Review:

Winebelly’s dimly lit interior is a cozy setting for leisurely sharing small plates, ranging from simple snacks to culinary creations. The lush, verdant back courtyard is a top spot for outdoor Austin dining and a hidden surprise invisible from the asphalt-heavy location at a busy intersection. The "Wine" in Winebelly’s name is no accident. The neighborhood feel encourages diners to start the evening with a bottle from the well-thought-out wine book, nicely balanced between domestic and European labels. Beef carpaccio or a local cheese plate are excellent ways to accompany the experience. Small details often elevate simplicity to ingenuity, such as the anchovy breadcrumbs and poblano vinaigrette that accompany the roasted cauliflower. Wagyu beef sliders (with bacon jam and smoked blue cheese) or braised pork shank on rye spätzle are two dishes worth keeping all to yourself. Sometimes, though, the juxtapositions occasionally miss the mark. A horseradish lover, for example, might be unable to handle the amount slathered on the oxtail bruschetta.
