THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Woo Lae Oak Restaurant Review:
Favored by Asian businessmen, this handsome, serene room done in light woods, is the only Korean restaurant we know of downtown---and one of the most upscale in the city. Its also quite user-friendly, and in general, the food is made with more finesse and less fire (as in spice) than at neighborhood spots. Electric grills are built into spacious tables for cook-them-yourself meats, such as bul gogi and kalbi (sliced beef and beef short ribs), and all the standard soups, noodles and stews are on hand. But the real pleasures of the menu are a wide array of appetizers and some unusual choices, among them pumpkin porridge and a ginger-flavored beverage-like dessert made with dried persimmon and pine nuts that tastes like a Christmas punch.
