Woods Restaurant & Bar Restaurant Review

: With exposed brick and rugged wood, elegant lighting and a birch tree palette, Woods Restaurant & Bar is both rustic and chic. A fine spot to socialize, service is seamless and dinner moves at a leisurely pace. Little details are what elevate the place; for example, the two types of complimentary, homemade sourdough bread, all fluffy and chewy, or a refolded napkin when guests return to their table. Woods takes its role seriously, utilizing in-season Canadian ingredients most of the time. Finely chopped steak tartare is spicy with Dijon, while lobster bisque is creamy. We also recommend the cauliflower ravioli, bursting with roasted cauliflower flavor, or the braised bison short rib, which is fall-off-the-bone tender. Try the black cod, perfectly opaque over a white bean stew with house-made chorizo and tomato oil. For dessert, maple sugar pie with nutmeg ice cream is the epitome of Canadian fare, but the layers of raspberry and creamy mascarpone in the raspberry 'macaronnade' are what really entice.
