THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Woodswether Cafe Restaurant Review:
Jerry Naster, former grocery store meat cutter, turned Woodswether Café into home-cooking heaven. Diners are as apt to sit next to a man wearing a Brooks Brothers suit and reading a Wall Street Journal as they are blue collar city workers on their lunch break. Here, the biscuits, the sausage gravy and the hash browns are all homemade. Feathery pancakes are as big as frisbees and the pies and cakes in their plexiglass dome-covered stands made fresh daily by Naster's wife. On the short list at lunch: a to-die-for hot roast beef sandwich with mashed potatoes, and the hand-formed burgers with homemade french fries and thick chocolate shakes. Smoking is allowed; parking is available in the gravel lot that surrounds the low cinder-block building painted with psychedelic comic book characters.
