THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Zaya Restaurant Review:
Gaby Saliba, Hicham Khodr, and Tarek Tay made their mark in New Orleans, and now have brought their fresh, zingy Middle Eastern food to Atlanta. A raft of appetizers priced under $10 make small-plate (meze) noshing very appealing. The meat and vegetarian stuffed grape leaves are delectable, served with a side of yogurt and cucumber. Moussaka here is eggplant stew, and there are lots of little vegetarian dishes that, assembled, would make a regal meal. For lunch, wraps and panini are first-rate, especially the rotisserie chicken panino and the veggie-stuffed wrap. A single side comes with this, and we suggest the lovely baba ghanouj. Baklava is plenty dessert for two. Belly dancing on Thursday evenings renders Zaya a good mid-week date spot. The wine list wins our heart: when was the last time you saw generous pours of good wines for $3 and $4 a glass? This smart selection also offers well-priced choices by the bottle.
